It's the last official month of winter! I love the changing seasons but I have to admit that I, like many others, do find winter to be the most challenging one. But soon the frozen, foggy mornings will be behind us. Who else has spotted the spring tulips and hyacinths in the shops? 💐

Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday 21 & 22 February
For a strict Christian, Shrove Tuesday is the day to eat up foods that couldn't be eaten during 40 days of fasting for Lent. For others, Shrove Tuesday is more commonly known as Pancake Day. What's your favourite topping? if you're looking for inspiration, try one of these unusual fillings, or for a vegan option, I can recommend these banana pancakes (with half the amount of sugar!).
LGBT+ History month 1-28 February
This year's LGBT+ History month theme is "Behind the Lens"; celebrating LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film from behind the lens. On the dedicated website, there are resources for businesses and individuals of all ages to show their support and get involved.
Family time
Vets in Action at London Zoo, Regent's Park 11-19 February
Do you have some budding David Attenboroughs in your family? Why not treat them to a trip to London Zoo, where this half term, kids become a vet for the day in the specially created Animal Hospital, and learn how to examine, diagnose and treat animals.

Explore, Build, Play at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square 14-16 February
This February half term, the National Gallery have opened up a creative area in the centre of the building for children to explore architecture and materials. The sessions are free on a first come-first served basis, but you will still need to book your (free) ticket to enter the gallery.
Magical Mischief, Warner Bros Studios 21 Jan - 18 April
Returning for the second year, The Making of Harry Potter reveals film trickery showing how all the most mischievous moments of the films are captured. If you're a Harry Potter fan, this is sure to get the imagination flowing for an upcoming April Fool's Day trick!

Japan Courts and Culture, the Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace Until 26 February
Take a tour around the Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace to see some beautiful highlights of Japanese culture, from rare pieces of porcelain to gifts given to Kings and Queens from the reign of James I.
David Hockney, Lightroom, King's Cross 22 February - 4 June
Lightroom is a new home for spectacular artist-led shows in London. It opens on 22 February with a show by David Hockney. Get your tickets now for a unique experience seeing the world through David Hockney's eyes over his 60 years of art.
The Sleeping Beauty, Royal Opera House 16 January - 6 June
A family favourite story, brought to life through ballet. Tickets are on sale now for all dates for the ballet show, but they're shifting fast so book soon!

Rugby 6 Nations 4 February - 18 March
With a formidable French team, can they win the Grand Slam again this year to get that confidence boost going into the World Cup in September? Matches are shown on ITV (England, France, Ireland and Italy home games) or BBC (Scotland and Wales home games). All fixture dates and times here.
Cricket ICC World T20 (Women's) 9-26 February

Super Bowl 16:30 (MST) / 23:30 (UK time), 12 February
This year's battle in Arizona is between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, with Rihanna performing during the half time show. In total, the spectacle last around 4 hours, so be prepared for a very late night! Check out great places to watch the match in London here.
Alpine World Ski Championships 6-19 February
Held in Courchevel and Méribel, there are still day tickets and packages available for some of the events. And if you really want to get involved in the action, there are also VIP-on-Skis packages to experience the championships with your skis on in the company of champions.
